The Rewarding Journey of a Clinical Hypnotherapist: Meredith McCarthy's Story

Finding My Calling in Hypnotherapy

Thirty-one years ago, an introductory event on clinical hypnotherapy transformed my life. I remember being so moved by the potential of this field that I found myself in tears, overwhelmed by a profound sense of purpose. It was as if everything had fallen into place, and I knew this was my calling.

Early Steps and First Success

Within weeks of obtaining my diploma in clinical hypnotherapy, I established my practice in Wellington’s Harbour City Tower. Placing a sign on the street, I welcomed my first client just half an hour later – a moment that marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Since then, I have never looked back. Each day has been filled with the joy and satisfaction of doing what I love.

A Career of Diverse Experiences

Being a hypnotherapist is an incredibly varied and fascinating profession. I've had the privilege of helping individuals overcome challenges like extreme anxiety, debilitating phobias, and procrastination. The diversity of my work ensures that every day is unique, and I always look forward to meeting my clients and supporting them through their journeys.

Inspiring the Next Generation

About eleven years ago, my path led me to become a trainer at a local hypnotherapy school. This experience ignited a dream to establish my own academy, focusing on producing exceptional therapists. In teaching, I emphasize practical understanding over theoretical essays. I believe in a hands-on approach, fostering class interaction, discussions, and shared learning in an engaging environment.

An Invitation to a Fulfilling Career

For those seeking a rewarding career, clinical hypnotherapy offers a path filled with profound personal and professional satisfaction. I am thrilled to announce that the New Zealand Academy of Clinical Hypnotherapy (NZACH) will be welcoming its first intake of students in March 2024. If you're curious about this career path or have any questions, I invite you to visit our website at www.nzach.ac.nz. I am more than happy to share insights and answer any queries you might have.
