5 Steps to Reframe Negative Thoughts and Empower Your Mindset

  1. Notice the Thoughts that Don’t Serve You: The first step in creating a positive mindset is to be aware of the negative thoughts that are holding you back. Keep a journal and write down the negative thoughts as they come to mind.

  2. Fact or Fiction: Once you have identified the negative thoughts, it’s time to evaluate if they are fact or fiction. Often, our negative thoughts are not based on reality, but rather on past experiences or beliefs that may no longer be true.

  3. Reframe Your Thoughts: The next step is to reframe your negative thoughts into empowering positive ones. Ask yourself, “What is the new thought I’d like to have?” Then, replace the negative thought with the positive one.

  4. Reinforce the New Thought: The fourth step is to reinforce the new thought often and frequently throughout the day. Repeat the positive thought to yourself, write it down, or even say it out loud.

  5. Mental Dress Rehearsal: The final step is to do a mental dress rehearsal of how you want the positive thought to affect your future. Imagine yourself in the future, with the positive thought already in place, and see how it has changed your life for the better.
